Wag is an online platform that provides services like dog walking, pet sitting, veterinary care and training services.
The platform helps connect dog-walkers, pet-sitters and trainers with people who require animal care.
Wag is a service that is essential for the modern times as working professionals sometimes cannot find the time for dog walking, dog grooming or general pet care.
Wag helps professionals in the pet care industry find work and helps pet owners find reliable service providers.
Wag also has many safety features to ensure that the customer and the pet sitter/dog walker are protected during business. These safety features include Insurance cover, pet tracking, complete profile visibility and so on.

Wag started in 2015 in Los Angeles and the company had initially raised $68 million in VC funding.
In 2018, Wag also raised $300 Million in funding from Softbank Vision Fund.
Wag was endorsed by many celebrities including Mariah Carey, Kendall Jenner, Chloƫ Grace Moretz and actress Olivia Munn is also an investor and associated with Wag as a Creative Strategist.
In 2019, it was reported by Wall Street Journal that Softbank sold $300 million worth of investment in Wag back to the company due to losses.
How Wag (Wag!) works?
The platform requires the user to create an account on Wag.
After entering previous experiences on the platform needs you need to get endorsements from friends, family or others to vouch for the experiences you had mentioned.
The more testimonials there are, the faster will be your application process.
On an average, Wag application takes about 14 days to process.
After getting approved, you also need to create a Stripe payment account, which requires entering bank details or debit card details.
You can then start taking bookings from pet owners with times, date and instructions.
The type of service will depend on the care that was requested. The bookings can then be confirmed from the app itself.

Wag (Wag!) Features
Wag has many features that makes the platform great for service providers and customers.
In Customer's App, features like Search and Filter, Profile, Photo Updates, Real-time Tracking and Reports are available.
The Search and Filter feature allows the customer to find appropriate dog walking services that best meet the customers requirements.
The Profile, Photo Update and Real Time Tracking features allows the customer to check the profile of the dog sitter, receive photo updates of their dogs and track the dog and the dog walkers at all times.
The Reports feature helps the customer keep track of all the bookings, walking distance and performance report of the dog and dog walker.
In Dog Walker's App, features like Create a Profile, Accept/Reject Requests and Schedule are available.
The Create a Profile feature allows the user to add previous experiences and build a better profile.
The Accept/ Reject feature allows users to take control of the requests made by the pet owners.
The Schedule feature allows the user to see all the bookings and appointments like a calendar.
Wag (Wag!) Requirements
Like other Gig platforms, Wag also has some requirements to join.
All Wag users needs to be 18 years or older, should be legally authorized to work in the United States, should live in a city where Wag operates.
Additionally, all users should also pass a safety and background check, live in a residence that allows pets and previous experience of training.
Also, the user needs to complete an assessment before he can get bookings.
How to Join or Apply for Wag (Wag!)?
To join Wag, you need to complete an application online or in the Wag App.
You need to create a profile by entering basic information like legal first name, legal last name, email address, phone number, agree to the terms and conditions of Wag and confirm that you are a US resident.
Additionally, you need to provide past experience with pets and take a short 20-30 minute quiz on pet safety and care.
Following successful completion of the quiz, you will also need to pass a mandatory background check.
Note: There is an application processing fee which you have to pay when you are applying for Wag. The application processing fee is $29.95.

The average Wag pay is $12 plus tip for a 30-minute walk.
The average Wag pay is $26 per night for a pet sitting.
You can also earn extra if there are more than one dog or recurring requests.

On an average, the salary of a dog walker is $15.97 per hour in the United States.

If you are earning money using Wag dogwalkinig, you will also have to include this income in your tax filing.
Wag tax documents are physically mailed by default. If an electronic copy is required, you will have to provide consent for the same.
Do note, 1099 tax documents are only produced for pet caregivers earning $600 or more for the year.
